James E. Carpenter, M.D., is Professor and Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Michigan. He is the Gehring Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a graduate of both the University of Michigan Medical School and the Harvard Orthopaedic Residency Training program. Dr. Carpenter has been in practice at MedSport for 25 years and has expertise in all aspects of shoulder surgery and sports medicine including arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery. He has published and lectured widely in the field of shoulder injuries and repair. He has served as Head Team Physician with Michigan Athletics including 10 years as the orthopaedic surgeon for Michigan Football. Michigan Medicine is proud to support the work of this leader in the fields of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine.
